The Zambia National Service, ZNS has halted works of grading rural roads in Dilika ward of Chipata district.
Dilika Ward Councillor, Alberto Phiri confirmed this to Breeze News.
Mr. Phiri explained that ZNS has managed to grade 16 kilometres out of 23 kilometres of the roads in Dilika.
Mr. Phiri says that works on the remaining 7 kilometres of the rural roads are expected to resume when the rain season is over.
The Dilika Ward civic leader says he is proud that the most important roads in his ward have been graded and have become passable.
However, speaking to Breeze News earlier this month, Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo stated that ZNS was waiting for funding from its line Ministry to start working on most of the rural roads.
