ZNUT advises government to quicken negotiations.

The Zambia National Union of Teachers, ZNUT, in Mambwe district has observed that any further delays in negotiations for new conditions of service may complicate matters.

ZNUT district chairperson Weston Phiri says this is because teachers will lose patience and may take action that could jeopardize the provision of quality education.

He said that the union is disappointed that government is delaying negotiations, despite several calls from unions.

Mr. Phiri says teachers deserve what he described as descent salary increment, which will match the growing cost of living in the country.

Meanwhile, Mr. Phiri says the union is concerned with the current political atmosphere between the ruling PF, Patriotic Front Party and opposition political parties.

He says leaders of political parties must dialogue and ensure that peace and unity continues among their members.
