ZNUT against government’s intention to standardise user fees in schools.

Zambia National Union of Teachers ZNUT in Mambwe district is unhappy with government’s intention to standardize user fees in schools.
District Chairperson, Weston Phiri has told Breeze News that government’s intention to standardise the user frees is unnecessary.
He says that this is because the needs of the schools differ from one community to another.
Mr. Phiri says that government should instead act as a watchdog to monitor the use of the user fees and sensitize the community on the use of these funds.
He has noted that the community also needs to be educated on the best way to overcome challenges in paying user fees.
Some school administrators have been accused of charging high user fees, which are beyond the means of most parents.
The money is not properly accounted for by some of these learning institutions.
