Compliance levels on the payment of withholding tax have exceeded targets set for Chipata.
Zambia Revenue Authority ZRA Acting Regional Manager, Peter Mwanza, confirmed to Breeze News that there has been a tremendous upward trend in the last three months, in regards to payment of the tax.
Mr. Mwanza attributed this to the door to door sensitizations that are being currently carried out.
He says that the tax authority has been able to establish who the landlords are and engaged them on the need to comply.
Mr. Mwanza however, says that it is still a challenge to verify whether the rates being submitted by the landlords are genuine or not.
Early this year, government reinforced the remission of the withholding tax which currently stands at 20 per cent.
However, presenting the proposed 2016 National Budget, Finance Minister, Alexander Chikwanda submitted that the tax would be dropped to 10 per cent.
