Inkosi Yamakhosi Mphezeni has urged government not to misinterpret his concerns, emphasizing that he speaks as the voice of the people.
He stated that government should view his criticisms as opportunities for improvement rather than as opposition.
The traditional leader said this today when Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Garry Nkombo, Minister of Agriculture, Reuben Mtolo Phiri, Provincial Minister Peter Phiri, and other government officials, paid a courtesy call to him at his palace.
In response, Mr. Nkombo assured that government does not take offense at the Chief’s comments.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with traditional leaders, acknowledging their vital role in local development.
Last month, Inkosi Yamakhosi Mphezeni expressed concern over the government’s failure to honor its promises, particularly for infrastructure projects such as the construction of dams.
